What are the objectives of the course?
  • To have a clear understanding of the role and responsibility of the Early Years Consultant
  • To reflect on ways to develop their knowledge and skills in relation to the role of the Early Years Consultant
What is the content of the course?

This course considers the role and responsibilities an Early Years Consultant has in raising the quality in early years settings through challenge and support. The course uses a self evaluation approach to support those within this role to reflect on their skills and knowledge. The course also examines the consultation process and what is needed for effective consultation of early years settings. The course makes use of the Early Years Consultant, and Challenging Practice documents created by National Strategies.

What is the duration of the course?

This course can be delivered:
  • as a two day course
  • over 3 staff meetings or twlights or evening briefings
  • over two Saturdays
The activities during the training are varied and lively to give practitioners hands on activities to keep them engaged and interested. Experience of training a wide range of practitioners has shown this to be a highly effective way of developing practitioner understanding, confidence and skills and creating impact in a range of early years settings.

This course has been adapted in light of the changes to the Early Years Foundation Stage document (DfE, 2012).
